รวมบทกวีซีไรต์ “แม่น้ำรำลึก” เป็นหนังสือรวมบทกวีนิพนธ์ 43 ชิ้น โดยในเล่มนี้ได้รวมบทกวีเกียรติยศที่กวีอ่านแทนสุนทรพจน์ในงานรับพระราชทานรางวัลซีไรต์ เพิ่มไว้ในตอนท้าย ภาพรวมของเล่มเป็นการนำเสนอเรื่องราวย้อนความทรงจำดังที่เขียนก่อนเริ่มบทกวีไว้ว่า “กลับไปเยี่ยมวัยเยาว์” บทกวีแต่ละชิ้นสะท้อนภาพชีวิตวัยเยาว์ผ่านสิ่งละอันพันละน้อย ตลอดจนสถานที่ เหตุการณ์ ผู้คน และประสบการณ์ต่างๆ เช่น บทกวีที่มีเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับ รุ้ง, ตะเกียง, ว่าว, โอ่งน้ำ, แมวหินบนหลังคา, ปลาตกครอก, ซ่อน-หา, หมู่เมฆ, กองไฟฤดูหนาว, ต้นหว้า, หนังสติ๊ก, ช่างตัดผม ฯลฯ บทกวีนำเสนอเรื่องราวของความฝัน ความสุข ความเศร้า และความรู้สึกสะทกสะเทือนที่จบในตัว เมื่ออ่านแต่ละชิ้นต่อเนื่องกันก็เสมือนหยิบภาพแต่ละภาพมาต่อกัน จนเป็นภาพใหญ่ของชีวิต บทกวี 42 ชิ้นปรากฏอยู่ในภาค "ปฐมบท" และสรุปปิดฉากด้วยบทกวีหนึ่งชิ้นในภาค "ปัจฉิมบท" ซึ่งสะท้อนภาพของชายชราบนเก้าอี้โยกริมระเบียงที่บ้านชายน้ำในเวลาพลบค่ำ ผู้ซึ่งย้อนพินิจเรื่องราวกึ่งสุขกึ่งเศร้าเหล่านั้น แล้วทิ้งท้ายไว้ให้ผู้อ่านได้จินตนาการต่อไป

เรวัตร์ พันธุ์พิพัฒน์ เป็นกวีร่วมสมัยผู้มีความโดดเด่นในการพรรณนาธรรมชาติและวิถีชีวิตชนบทผ่านความงามเชิงสุนทรียะของภาษาที่แฝงด้วยปรัชญาชีวิต นอกจากนี้เขายังเขียนเรื่องสั้นและนวนิยายที่สะท้อนแก่นแกนของความเป็นมนุษย์ในหลากหลายมิติ และบ่อยครั้งมักแฝงกลิ่นอายของสัจนิยมมหัศจรรย์ การเป็นนักเล่าเรื่องที่ช่ำชองผนวกกับศิลปะในการประพันธ์ที่แยบยลและเป็นสากล ทำให้บทกวีของเขามีเอกภาพและเปี่ยมด้วยเรื่องราวชวนติดตามราวกับได้มองเห็นชีวิตมาร่ายรำอยู่ตรงหน้า “แม่น้ำรำลึก” ชักชวนผู้อ่านให้กลับไปเยี่ยมวัยเยาว์ซึ่งเป็นวัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเติบโตเป็นผู้ใหญ่ของเราทุกคนในวันนี้



This flow of forty-three poems meanders through memories of youth. Each poem reflects places, events, people and experiences of the early years through odds and ends such as a rainbow, a lamp, a kite, a water jar, the stone cat on the roof, a spawning fish, hide-and-seek, clouds, winter’s bonfire, a black plum tree, a slingshot, the local barber, etc. These poems are woven around dreams, around moments of happiness or sadness, around fleeting emotions or hurts. Reading them in succession is like adding pieces to a puzzle which, once completed, provides a large picture of life. All forty-three poems but one come under the label “Youth”; the last one, under “Old age”, is of an old man in a rocking chair on a porch facing a river at dusk recalling the sweet and sour times that were, still yearning for the irretrievable past. An honorary poem that the poet read as his acceptance speech at the 2004 S.E.A. Write Award Ceremony is included at the end to put the finishing touches to the whole puzzle.
Rewat Panpipat is a contemporary poet who narrates the beauty of nature and simplicity of rural life with aesthetics and philosophical thoughts. He is also known for his profound short stories and novellas which vividly portrait human nature, often with a slight touch of magical realism.
